ACTCat Position Statement

We at ACTCat believe that cat breeding and exhibiting is a recreational hobby to be enjoyed by individuals and families alike.

ACTCat embraces the philosophy that breeders and exhibitors should be able to register and show their cats with any registry they so choose, without fear or restriction, limitation or compromise.

The imposition of restrictions and/or limitations is for self-serving interests, rather than for the promotion of the genuine love of cats or the true spirit of sportsmanship.

We believe in freedom of choice

ACTCat's Aims

1 Educating people on cat management for the home, the environment and specific cat breeds and cat care.
2 Encourage the public to realise that the acquisition of a pet is a long-term project.
3 Brochures on the care, maintenance and desexing of cats for all attendees.
4 Members of the public can enter their desexed and vaccinated cats. Advertising will be used to increase the awareness of cats and cats shows and to enable them to enter the shows. The judging can be watched and Judges will give a description of each cat and if appropriate may answer questions.
5 A general increase in the level of awareness of the various breeds of cats, their care and long term maintenance.
6 Educating the public that domestic cats should be desexed, identified and treated as indoor pets with limited access to the outside through an enclosure attached to the house.
